Outpatient clinic for gastroenterology, hepatology and gastrointestinal tumors
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS EXAMINATION?
This is an outpatient clinic for consultations, recommendations for additional diagnostics and explanations of a planned treatment for pancreatic, liver and digestive diseases, that is diseases of the digestive system and organs of the abdominal cavity.
WHEN TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A GASTROENTEROLOGIST?
You should consider making an appointment with a gastroenterologist if you feel uneasiness in your stomach, if you are experiencing digestion problems, pain in the lower abdomen, vomiting or you notice changes in bowel function (fluctuating between constipation and diarrhea). Alarming symptoms that warrant an immediate examination by a gastroenterologist include trouble swallowing food, painful swallowing, general pain, weight loss, blood in stool and anemia.
WHAT DOES A CHECK-UP INCLUDE?
A gastroentheological examination is a specialist examination performed by a doctor specialist who makes a decision based on the medical history, clinical check-up and laboratory results about whether any further gastoenterological diagnostic examinations are needed. At the same time, he prepares a plan for any additional diagnostics and suggests treatment that can be performed in Slovenia. He can also inform a patient about diagnostic methods and treatment possibilities abroad. A patient can request a “second opinion” proposal, which is forwarded to clinics across Europe and around the world.
A gastroenterologist also performs other examinations, such as: gastroscopy, colonoscopy, abdominal ultrasound, endoscopic ultrasound, CT and others.
