Angiology Outpatient Clinic

ANGIOLOGY

Angiology is the branch of medicine that studies blood vessels and vascular illnesses. Proper vascular disease therapy helps keep patients from developing thrombosis, embolism, and other complications.

WHICH SERVICES DOES THE CLINIC OFFER?

We provide patients with arterial and venous tests and ultrasound studies. After diagnosing the patient’s vascular condition, we monitor and treat it.

WHEN TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

When a patient experiences a vascular problem, it can be with the internal – arterial – veins (arterial inflow) or the external – venous – veins (venous outflow).

Vascular disorders begin with pain in the lower legs or calves, inability to walk for extended periods, heavy and tired legs, and can proceed to swollen legs and leg ulcers. Some patients come merely for cosmetic reasons.

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAB)

Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is an illness that mostly affects the arteries of the lower limbs. It is caused by advanced atherosclerosis, which gradually narrows the afflicted artery and can eventually block it entirely. The first sign of a constricted artery is a painful squeezing sensation in the muscles of the lower limbs while walking.

As the vessel’s lumen narrows, the distance at which the pain occurs decreases, and the pain may persist even when the patient is resting. In the most extreme circumstances, it might result in tissue death or gangrene.

Ultrasound can properly detect atherosclerotic changes in the arteries. Ultrasound is crucial for recognizing and monitoring the course of PABA, and deciding on future treatment options. It can also detect atherosclerotic lesions that have not yet caused issues in patients with risk factors such as high blood pressure, smoking, elevated blood lipids, diabetes, or a family history.

The carotid arteries can be screened in the same manner. Atherosclerotic lesions in these arteries are the leading cause of strokes.

Chronic Venous Disease

Chronic venous illness typically begins with the sensation of heavy and aching legs. Later, the veins might become overstretched and twisted, eventually developing varicose veins.

Ultrasound is used to detect weakness in the deep and/or superficial veins of the lower limbs by revealing the diameter of the veins, the efficiency of the venous valves, and the direction and speed of blood flow. This information allows us to select the appropriate treatment.
