General Outpatient clinic (concession contract)

WHICH SERVICES DOES THE CLINIC OFFER?

Choosing a primary care physician is very important. Your primary care physician is not only the person who monitors your health and refers you to a specialist, when necessary but is also available when you need advice for a better and healthier lifestyle.
An outpatient clinic is the first point of contact for patients with a health service within the healthcare system. The main activities of the clinic include the simultaneous management of acute and chronic diseases, collaboration with doctors of other specialties, and ensuring continuous health care for patients throughout their lives.

Another important activity of the clinic is promoting healthy lifestyles by advocating strategies for health maintenance and disease prevention. The clinic is run by a doctor who provides patients with expert knowledge for managing and preventing diseases while respecting their autonomy and collaborating with them on treatment and prevention plans.

REFERENCE OUTPATIENT CLINIC

A reference clinic is an extended form of a family medicine clinic with a modern approach to comprehensive patient care at the primary level of healthcare. In addition to a doctor and a nurse, patients in this clinic are monitored by a registered nurse. The reference clinic is intended for patients with a registered primary care physician at Barsos – MC d.o.o.

The scope of work of a registered nurse includes prevention, health education, and monitoring of patients with chronic diseases:

  • Preventive health check-ups starting at the age of 30 to identify risk factors for chronic diseases at an early stage
  • Health education advice on healthy lifestyles
  • Counselling on chronic disease risk factors and other risk factors (alcohol, smoking, high cholesterol, etc.)
  • Monitoring and treatment of patients with chronic diseases such as:
    • asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),
    • diabetes,
    • cardiovascular disease,
    • osteoporosis,
    • high blood pressure,
    • prostate disease, and
    • depression.

Chronic patients are often unaware that their condition is worsening. A registered nurse with specialist skills is professionally trained to monitor chronic patients, carry out tests, and consult a doctor if there are any abnormalities or changes. The patient still sees their doctor when necessary.

A quarter of people over 26 are obese, 68% have high cholesterol, 18% have high blood sugar, and around 27% smoke, putting a fifth of men over the age of 35 and a fifth of women over the age of 45 at high risk of heart attack, stroke, lower limb artery disease and other health complications in the next ten years.

By working in a reference outpatient clinic, we can provide you with even better-quality care, prevent the development of chronic diseases, and improve the management of chronic diseases that have already developed.
