Irena Kumelj, MD

I have always had a desire for knowledge and education, so after completing Bežigrad Gymnasium, I enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine, with the desire to become a good doctor and researcher who would help the sick to the best of my ability. Already during my medical studies, I decided to work with children, for whom I feel great affection.

In order to gain as much knowledge as possible, I also studied pediatrics abroad. As a student, I worked in Finland and Sicily, and as a pediatric resident at the Medical University of Texas-Houston, where I gained a lot of experience. I passed the pediatrics specialist exam in 2010, and since then I have been working independently in a pediatric clinic, where I constantly learn and educate myself from children, patients, colleagues, and pleasant and friendly colleagues. I am grateful that I can practice the profession of pediatrician in a pleasant and respectful environment and to treat our children, who are our future.

I am a mother of two boys and our children’s hearted doctor.
