Laser removal of benign birthmarks

We all have a few larger or smaller birthmarks on our skin.

They are usually benign formations of melanocytes, skin cells that produce pigmentation. If the birthmarks are small and do not change considerably, they are most likely merely a cosmetic issue.

However, larger, irregular, newly formed or form-changing birthmarks must be carefully observed. Unfortunately, epidemiologic data is showing a stark increase of malign skin diseases. The most dangerous of all skin tumors is melanoma. If it is not recognized and treated in its early stage, it can be deadly.

A lot of people notice a disturbing outgrowth on their neck, body, under the armpit and on the face. We recommend you show them to your doctor or a dermatologist and consider removing them

Before every procedure, a clinical examination is conducted and each birthmark is examined with a dermatoscope. Sometimes, a histological examination is required. A laser treatment can be performed only after a proper diagnosis.

The removal of a birthmark is very quick and using a small dose of anesthetic, often without any at all.

After the treatment, the treated spot is covered with a bandage. The patient can remove it in a few of days, after a scab has formed, which falls off after a week. The treated spot remains a bit red for a few days. Slowly, the redness pales and the skin restores its natural color.
